Entries for the annual Buy Smart competition are now open

The Office of Fair Trading has just launched the 2017 Buy Smart Competition. Buy Smart is a chance for young people from schools and community groups to learn about their rights and responsibilities as consumers so they can be smart shoppers and become informed consumers.

Students have a chance to win a share of over $15,000 in cash for themselves and their schools by researching a consumer issue and presenting it in a way that appeals to their classmates. Creativity is encouraged – students can use any media for their entry. They are only limited by their imagination.

The Office of Fair Trading’s new and updated teaching resources now align with the Australian curriculum for easy implementation of the activities into the everyday classroom. These include classroom activities and case studies that are now available for download.

Schools or organisations interested in having OFT visit to provide information and support regarding the competition can contact OFT’s Community  and Stakeholder Education and Engagement Team.
