The Yarnin’ Energy team has set up shop at Raintrees Shopping Centre this August, bringing energy education and financial wellbeing support directly to the community. Operating five days a week from 8:30 am to 5 pm, the team is using the central location to connect with clients, share information about the Yarnin’ Energy project, and promote ICAN’s financial counselling and capability service.
“We’re here at Raintrees promoting ICAN, but also our Yarnin’ Energy project and everything in between,” said Sinead Singe Yarnin’ Energy Worker, who’s been stationed at the pop-up all month.
So far, the outreach has been a success. “We’ve been signing up some people for our service. Some just want to see our fact sheets and flyers,” said Sinead. “We’ve even had some other organisations reach out, because they want set up some group training, so I feel like that’s pretty cool.”
The team chose Raintrees for its easy access and proximity to the community. “Most of our clients live around this area and it is central. The bus stop is right there too, so it’s just easier,” she added.
To amplify their outreach, the Yarnin’ Energy team is working on eye-catching signage and exploring options like sandwich boards for daily messages. They’re also capturing promotional videos and interviews on-site to share the energy-saving message even further.
