Super Made Easy: Building Confidence, Supporting Communities, Strengthening Futures

Understanding superannuation shouldn’t be a barrier to financial wellbeing; it should be a pathway to stronger futures. That’s why the Indigenous Consumer Assistance Network (ICAN) is continuing to roll out Super Made Easy, a practical online training and professional development program designed to build confidence, capability and culturally responsive support across the financial wellbeing sector.

Developed in partnership with AustralianSuper and the First Nations Foundation, Super Made Easy has evolved from a successful video series into a fully interactive online training program available through ICAN Learn’s e-Learning platform. The course provides clear, practical guidance for professionals and community members who want to better understand superannuation and support First Nations people to access and protect their entitlements.

The need for this work is clear. Many First Nations people continue to face systemic barriers to accessing and managing their super — including lost accounts, insurance misunderstandings, difficulty making claims, and limited culturally safe support. ICAN’s broader advocacy and casework highlights how complex systems often prevent people from accessing the money that should help them build stability and long-term security. Super Made Easy responds directly to these challenges by turning complex information into practical, usable knowledge.

The program is designed for:

  • Financial counsellors and capability workers
  • Community services and frontline staff
  • Superannuation, banking and energy sector professionals
  • First Nations organisations supporting community financial wellbeing

Participants can learn at their own pace while building real-world skills to support clients and communities. The course includes interactive lessons, downloadable resources, personalised journals and a certificate of completion; ensuring learning translates into practice.

ICAN CEO Aaron Davis said the program is about making superannuation work for people, not against them. “Superannuation should be building futures, not creating barriers. Super Made Easy gives workers and communities the tools to navigate the system with confidence and ensure people receive what they’re entitled to.”

By strengthening knowledge across sectors, Super Made Easy is helping to build a more culturally responsive and informed workforce; one that can support First Nations people to claim, manage and grow their super with confidence.Ready to strengthen your super knowledge and professional practice?
